School's out forever My year
School's out forever
My year at Webber Douglas has finished and so has my relationship
with formal education. It was an incredible year, totally changing
the way I work, the way I think and the way I approach life. Drama
school cut to the core in a way that never happened at school,
university or yeshiva. It was that process of being watched, being
criticised, being broken down and being reconstructed, and it
was only the beginning.
So what next? An actor's life. Finally. I'm raring to go and have just
taken my brief summer holiday (4 days' surfing in rainy Cornwall).
Once more unto the breach, dear friends...

The day I went to
The day I went to Prison
Yesterday I had the sheer honour of working with the
London Shakespeare Workout, an organisation that runs
Shakespeare workshops in British prisons.
We visited HMP Feltham, working with the young offenders who were
aged 18-21and they were a truly amazing group to work with, totally
committed to what we were doing and far better behaved than some
of the youth movement kids I worked with last summer!
LSW are a terrific organisation run by the energetic Bruce Wall and
last year they visited 50 prisons. It was a totally rewarding experience
and now I'm keen to go and do some work with the lifers.
