Who was Solomon?
A man with 700 wives and a penchant for writing poetry. A man with a passion for life, love and creating magnificent buildings. This comic-dramatic-epic play is inspired by the real story and dares to explore what the Bible doesn't say.

SOLOMON is a three-part epic which takes the audience on a whirlwind journey to Ancient Jerusalem, where the King is building his fame and reputation. Actor/Co-writer Marcus J Freed plays the roles with passion, energy and fervour, grabbing hold of the characters and jump-starting them to life for the 21st Century audience. We follow the madcap quests of Solomon and his manservant Benayah, who meet beautiful princesses, dancing eunuchs and the enigmatic Queen of Sheba.

SOLOMON premiered at Limmud Conference 1999, where it received a standing ovation. The SOLOMON 2000 tour began in Israel, and it has since toured to Mexico, Columbia, South Africa, Czech Republic, Israel, Hungary, France, New York, Washington and throughout the UK.

‘the performance got a standing ovation!’

‘action packed...standing ovation!’
Jewish Chronicle, UK

'a hugely successful performance piece that is qualitatively different than anything you have seen before. Interesting. Challenging. And new.'
Joel Grishaver, International Educator and Writer

'you captured the audience. The overlong applause was proof of that. The beauty of the piece was that it was visual and verbal. It had wit and pathos and swept the audience along with wonderful momentum. I hope you get a chance to share this with wider audiences still.'
Clive Lawton, Executive Director of Limmud
