Writing & Literary Creativity

1. Slam & Jam!

Performance poetry – aka Slam Poetry – is a brilliant way to express yourself and makes a change from the boring way we learned poetry at school. At the end of this workshop, everyone is GUARANTEED to have their own poetry to take home. Unlock your own poetic capability and let the slam begin!

2. Tell the story

Is there a novel just waiting to come out? We will look at a few pieces of literature, classic and contemporary, and see how we can begin to tell our own stories through the art of prose. This is suitable for experienced writers and absolute beginners.

3. The play’s the thing

Shakespeare in Love made the whole thing look fairly easy and writing a play can be one of the most satisfying creative experiences. We will examine various principles of dramatic structure from Aristotle through to Arthur Miller and see how we can write a play, right?!

4. Fusion: Performance Art

There are no absolute rules when it comes to performing to an audience and we will see how you can fuse a number of different skills in preparing a piece for performance. Street theatre, romantic poetry and rap can all live under the same roof. Just try it.
